About Laura

Finding the right fit for your mental health treatment is no easy task. If you are seeking out help with your mental health for the first time, you have probably noticed the confusing alphabet of letters that trail behind the names of mental health professionals. So let’s demystify it. Laura is licensed as a Marriage and Family therapist (LMFT) but that doesn’t just mean she’s a couples therapist only. Laura is trained to think about you holistically taking into account your experiences, your physical health, your beliefs and values. If it’s important to you, it’s important to her. Laura is also a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

This jumble of letters signifies that Laura is a nurse specializing in mental health licensed to prescribe medications in addition to providing therapy. With her medical focus, she can help to identify medications that could be safe and effective for use for your particular health situation. Sometimes a preferred path is the use of supplements and Laura can provide suggestions for evidence based solutions from complementary medicine. She is also aware of how trauma can impact your physical and emotional well- being and will work with you to discover your resilience. And while she will continue to pursue cutting edge knowledge to bring to her work, she also enjoys writing, good films and spending time with family and her Havenese, Lucy.
